The Damnation Game is the second album by progressive metal band Symphony X, which followed only eight months after their first album, Symphony X, was released. The album had some major differences to its predecessor, as it featured a new singer, Russell Allen.

Style

Until Paradise Lost, The Damnation Game was the only Symphony X album not to feature a 10+ minute epic track. It also marked singer Russell Allen's first recording with the band. The album also features the first Symphony X ballad, "Whispers," which was later followed by the ballads "Candlelight Fantasia" from 1997's The Divine Wings of Tragedy, "Lady of the Snow" from 1998's Twilight in Olympus, "The Sacrifice" from 2007's Paradise Lost, and "When All Is Lost" from 2011's "Iconoclast".
